2011 Silver Cap in Association with Bell's
The Silver Cap is delighted to team up with Bell's, www.bells.co.uk, to bring you this year's Silver Cap piping competition. It is truly a privilege to be working in association with such a prestigious Scottish company.
This year's Silver Cap will be held at the Lord Todd Bar on the Strathclyde University campus. It will be held on Tuesday the 9th of August at 8:00pm.
We are pleased to be continuing our partnering with MHAF to inspire up and coming pipers to excell. This year's winner of the Winter Storm Ceol Beag competition is Alex Gandy. As an agreement between the Silver Cap and MHAF the winner of the Ceol Beag competition receives an invitation to compete in that year's Silver Cap.
We regret to announce that the Silver Cap Showdown, the competition between the top Pipe Majors from last year's World Pipe Band Championships, will not be happening this year. Many of the Pipe Majors expressed an interest in this competition; however, with the main objective of the PM being to win/place well at the "Worlds", it was an added event that didn't have the main objective of the week in mind. We will push forward with trying to hold this event at a more appropriate date.
TUNE SUBMITTAL
We know that many people throughout the world have written many good tunes which will go unplayed or unrecognized. It is our desire, with this program, to give everyone from the Grade 5 player to the Professional tune writer a chance to not only contribute to this competition but to have their tunes made available to the public.
