The announcement of the Silver Cap Showdown was made at the end of the competition.  The Silver Cap Showdown will be held in 2011.  The envitees of this event will be the Pipe Major and the Pipe Seargent of the top six winning bands from this year's World Pipe Band Championships.  This event will be a winner take all of a minimum of 10,000GBP.  With adequate funding the prize money will hopefully be closer to 15,000GBP.  This competition will be the same format as the solo competition.  The set will be a March, Strathspey, Reel, Air, Hornpipe, Jig.  One of these the big tunes must be a new composition which is to be composed by the Pipe Major.  We will have a judging panel consisting of 2 pipe judges, 1 ensemble, and 1 drumming judge.  All four judges will have their view of the competitor's obstucted by the Silver Cap screen.  This event will happen as well as the Silver Cap solo event.

Please check back soon as more details are to be released at week's end.
